In light of this, the author recounts the Puerto Rican colonial experience through a legal lens, beginning with the first organic law of Puerto Rico and the <em>Insular Cases<\/em>. Afterwards, the author examines the imposition of the death penalty on Puerto Rico and the challenges it has faced based on the due process of the fourteenth amendment. The article concludes with the stating how the death penalty is as another expression of the U.S. Congress plenary powers over the Island, given that it is expressly rejected in Puerto Rico\u2019s Constitution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Emmanuel Hiram Arnaud discute la pena de muerte en Puerto Rico como uno de los medios de violencia estatal de Estados Unidos sobre Puerto Rico. A la luz de esto, el autor relata la experiencia colonial puertorrique\u00f1a bajo una mirada legal, comenzando con la primera ley org\u00e1nica de Puerto Rico y los <em>Casos Insulares<\/em>. Luego, el autor pasa a analizar la imposici\u00f3n de la pena de muerte en Puerto Rico y los ataques a la misma bajo el debido proceso de ley de la decimocuarta enmienda.
