Visita Honorable Jueza Sonia Sotomayor
El miércoles 6 de agosto de 2025, la Honorable Sonia Sotomayor, Jueza Asociada del Tribunal Supremo de los Estados Unidos, visitó la Escuela de Derecho de la Universidad de Puerto Rico para un conversatorio con estudiantes. El evento moderado por la Decana Vivian I. Neptune Rivera, reunió a estudiantes, facultad y empleados deseosos de escuchar a la Jueza Sotomayor. Los estudiantes preguntaron sobre su motivación para ser parte de la judicatura federal, su carrera ascendente, su perspectiva de vida al analizar los casos que se presentan ante el más alto foro, consejos para lograr ser oficiales jurídicos, rol de las opiniones disidentes y recomendaciones para la nueva generación de abogados y abogadas.
Por una hora y media la Jueza Sotomayor respondió con candidez mientras recorría el salón y se acercaba a cada estudiante que formulaba la pregunta.
Al despedirse agradeció la oportunidad de compartir con ellos. Nuestra Escuela agradece su visita y su legado imborrable en cada asistente y testigo de este especial encuentro.

On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the Honorable Sonia Sotomayor, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, visited the University of Puerto Rico School of Law for a student question and answer session. The event, moderated by Dean Vivian I. Neptune-Rivera, brought together students, faculty, and staff eager to hear from Justice Sotomayor. Students asked about her motivation for joining the federal judiciary, her rising career, her perspective on life when analyzing cases before the highest court, advice for becoming a law clerk, the role of dissenting opinions, and recommendations for the new generation of lawyers.
For an hour and a half, Justice Sotomayor answered candidly as she walked around the room and approached each student who asked a question.
As she said goodbye, she thanked them for the opportunity to have the conversation. Our School is grateful for her visit and her indelible legacy for every attendee and witness of this special meeting.»
