Professor Gómez Pérez is a Professor at the School of Law of the University of Puerto Rico and teaches courses in Real Estate Registry Law, Inheritance Rights, private law seminar on topics such as mortgage and Trusts. She began her undergraduate studies at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, in Medellín, Colombia. Later she studied her Juris Doctor at the University of Puerto Rico. She holds a master’s degree from the Carlos III University of Madrid on Private Law and a diploma in Real Estate Registration Law from the Autonomous University of Madrid. In 2010, she obtained her Doctorate in Civil Law from the Complutense University of Madrid. Her doctoral thesis analyzes the fiduciary regulation in the administration of separate assets in those systems that do not recognize the figure of the trust.
Professor Gómez is the author of several specialized articles and book chapters published in Puerto Rico and Latin America on the topics of real estate registration, trusts, investments, and inheritance law. The professor has presented at several world and regional congresses on registration law, such as the IPRA-CINDER World Congresses in Dubai in 2016 and in Cartagena, 2018(http://ipra-cinder.info/). Her most recent publication was the book La hipoteca en el derecho inmobiliario puertorriqueño which she co-authored with Professor Lourdes I. Quintana Llorens. Gómez Pérez has been a visiting professor and publication mediator at the Catholic University of Peru. Professor Gómez Pérez has presented papers on several bills, including the presentation of an amendment to the PROMESA Act to declare the Public University as an essential service before the Natural Resources Committee of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress, on May 2, 2019.
At the University of Puerto Rico, she has served in different governance bodies such as the Academic Senate and Claustral Representative of Río Piedras before the University Board, as well as Associate Dean of the School of Law.
