Academic and Professional Profile

Professor Ana Cristina Gómez Pérez is a professor at the School of Law of the University of Puerto Rico, where she teaches courses in property law, land registration and real estate law, family law, inheritance law, and trusts. Her teaching and research focus on superficies law, housing access, tenure security in crisis contexts, and trusts as legal instruments. She has also collaborated on interdisciplinary projects on land governance and sustainable development in Puerto Rico and Latin America.

    Participated in the LAC Regional Operational Workshop panel.
  • Conference on Housing, Land, and Property in Crisis Contexts, Howard University 2024 (Washington, D.C.):
    Sponsored by the IOM and Habitat for Humanity, she delivered lectures on lessons learned in Puerto Rico regarding land tenure after natural disasters.
  • World Congress of IPRA-CINDER 2022 (Porto, Portugal):
    Presented Land Registration in Post-Disaster Recovery Processes.
  • Natural Resources Committee, U.S. Congress 2019 (Washington, D.C.):
    Defended her proposal for an amendment to the PROMESA Act to declare the University of Puerto Rico an essential service.

Academic and Social Commitment

In addition to her outstanding academic career, Professor Gómez Pérez leads initiatives to strengthen access to justice and legal education in property law, urban development, and displaced communities in Puerto Rico. Within the university, she has contributed to key projects such as curriculum modernization, the integration of new technologies in legal education, and the development of continuing education programs for legal professionals.
